Comment:

 In the thread you referenced, reinstalling fixed the problem. Which makes
 it likely that this is a build or packaging problem. Also you built using
 Gentoo ebuild, i.e. not using the "./configure ; make" process we support,
 so this should be reported in the Gentoo bug tracker, not here.
