 this sounds alot like padding

 see [http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Settings_table Settings Table]
 for RecordPreRoll (start time) and RecordOverTime (end time)

 Just set RecordPreRoll to 360 to start all recordings 6 minutes early.
