Comment(by xris):

 The majority of MythTV users have little or no program description, so the
 current page layout was designed to maximize vertical screen real estate
 based on the assumption that the preview pixmap will be the tallest thing
 in each row.  In the future, I may just cut down the description length on
 this page so that it doesn't interfere (now that there is a "details" page
 for recordings as well as upcoming shows).
