Comment(by jahutton at ncsu.edu):

 Is this still a problem?  It could be something in the channel change
 script you're using.  Post what digital cable boxes you're using and how
 you're interfacing with them (serial, usb, firewire?). From there people
 could see if this is a minor issue (fixing a script) or bigger.
