 Just FYI,

 I noticed that Gentoo allows multiple GCC profiles. I've now installed GCC
 3.3.6 and changed my make profile to use it instead and am trying to
 compile mythvideo against this one to see if linking against stdc 5 works.

 Will update with progress.
