 I can confirm that rew/ff isn't smooth for me on DVD, and that
 occasionally I'll get the same symptoms listed above.  Although I'm not
 sure if it's related to this ticket, but I have even more issues trying to
 ff/rew anything that's not mpeg2 video using the internal player.  It's
 almost impossible for me to successfully seek an xvid encoded video. Could
 be related, but I'm not sure.
