 I concur that this is a problem. To give some more information:

 For me, it happens with video recorded at 720 x 480 and then transcoded at
 the same size. Only fbdev is affected. These same videos play back fine on
 another instance of X, using an Nvidia card.

 Furthermore, attempting to use the Xv picture controls to adjust hue
 fails. The slider goes to -1 and then refuses to move in either direction.
