 With both patches applied it worked every time - I tried 7 different DVDs,
 each one twice.

 It was a slow to start each time. Play the same disc again and it starts
 much faster.

 It also seems to re-read the audio when a new chapter starts. In every
 case this coincided with playback going into a permanent stutter.
