#1360: Skip/jump forward broken

Severity: high |

I've been using the latest and greatest myth code for some time and before
~10/2 everything was more or less working fine. After returning from
holiday, I did an update again and after figuring out that a distclean/new
configure was required to resolve various issues I got the software
working again.
However, when trying to playback recordings, I have noticed that
skipping/jumping forward is working very randomly, but with a tendency to
stop working all together.
One of the errors I get sometimes is:
NVP::AddAudioData():p1: Audio buffer overflow, audio data lost!
but on other occasions there is nothing in the log and playback just
stops.
On other occassions I have also seen the playback stopping and returning
to the menu.
If I leave a program playing it will play normally.
I also did a run with -v all and I can see the following log entries:
2006-02-21 22:08:33.961 AFD: DoFastForward(1585 (115), do discard frames)
[mpegts @ 0xb7438720]read_seek: 0 5061687072
2006-02-21 22:08:33.962 Broadcasting free space avail
2006-02-21 22:08:33.962 WriteAudio: Preparing 6144 bytes (1536 frames)
2006-02-21 22:08:33.962 audio waiting for space on soundcard: have 1920
need 6144
2006-02-21 22:08:33.983 audio waiting for space on soundcard: have 6016
need 6144
2006-02-21 22:08:34.007 Broadcasting free space avail
2006-02-21 22:08:34.008 WriteAudio: Preparing 6144 bytes (1536 frames)
2006-02-21 22:08:34.008 audio waiting for space on soundcard: have 3968
need 6144
...
2006-02-21 22:08:35.455 Broadcasting free space avail
... repeats forever ...
I then decided to go checkout the 0.19 code from svn, but the same
behaviour is there too.
I'm now thinking that I will go back to the code I had before, but if you
have any suggestions then please advise.
PS...there is nothing on the wiki that obviously spells out how to get a
user id...
