 That isn't the issue the ticket addresses. Previews are currently
 generated when highlighting the recording in the view recordings menu,
 this results in navigation delays (the frontend pauses until the preview
 is available). Scrolling through a list of new recordings can be
 frustrating as new images are generated.

 The tracker isn't the best place to ask these questions IMHO - start a
 thread in the dev list.
