so many changes.  This is mainly committing for the sake of committing.

more cli integration with all of the exporter files, some standardization,
honestly, there's so much I've been working on that I can't remember what
I did.  This is a fairly unstable commit, so use at your own risk (however,
it should be no worse than previous cvs releases)
